Is it at all possible, a newer DVD drive could be plugged in to the pre-facelift headunit to allow us to run a more up to date sat nav?

Couple of differences, but I am still struggling to find a wiring diagram

This is a 2012 FN2 DVD drive, which looks, certainly in the wiring dept like a simple plug and play with the facelift 7th Generation

If the likes of this kit exist, then clearly it is possible to add in whatever you want, be it audio or video without having to open up a can of worms and start modifying inside the units themselves.

Alternatively, would the likes of an even newer module be able to be retro fitted to our headunits, say from 2013 onwards.

This is very interesting! I would install a newer Nav system if this works.

Like wise I'd love to upgrade my nav unit to get some newer maps.
