Hi there, only just joined the forum as been having some issues with my 2004 Accord Tourer cdti. Had the car for about 18 months now, a few brake issues but had always started and run well until February when it cut into safe mode on a few occasions. Honda replaced fuel filter but after 2 weeks happened 3 more times in a week. Then 1,500 miles without issue (about two weeks), had a level 4 service & since then it will not start when warm (turns over but does not catch). Honda diagnostics say no fuel pressure & say needs either fuel pump or rail assembly but had both independently tested & neither coming in as faulty. Car has done around 95k. From cold it starts easily, runs well & gets about 47mpg.

Looking for any clues as reluctant to replace pump pump or rail assembly without knowing these are definitely at fault.

    Any advice gratefully received.

    Hi Simon, welcome to AOC.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. The fact that the pump and injectors have been tested and appear to be fine, makes me wonder if your having some electrical gremlins. Heat wouldn't affect the injectors or pump. It could affect electrics though.

I would start by checking that the main engine relay is fully engaging and start moving down stream from there .. ie is ECU on etc

    Hi Simon.

To me it sounds like a pump problem.
If you prime it (at the fuel filter) when hot will it start then??.

Cheers for the replies. Electrical issues is what I was thinking as getting no issues when cold but would I get some running issues if t was the main engine relay?

Will try priming at fuel filter but how do you go about it?

    Cheers

Apologies for delay SpeedyGee. Cheers for the thread, extremely useful and very clear. Will test the primer route at next warm start issue (have avoided stopping on route for last few weeks) and then work down the main engine relay path to see if the root cause can be identified.
