General So what does this cost???

    Whilst at HH my car battery was plugged into this special piece of kit. All dealers need to have it and from what I was told it a very special battery charger. It analyses the battery and can detect a failing one. It can top up and trickle charge and also maintains records of the vehicles connected to which I beleive are submitted to Honda (think I was right with this last bit but correct me if I was wrong CJ!)

    So any ideas what this costs???

    I'll let you have a few guesses before revealing the answer!

    That Medtronic’s battery charger is a fancy piece of kit with a fancy price tag too.. it can get hooked up to a thermal hand held printer and it prints out the health of the battery. Honda need all cars serviced in a Honda dealership to be hooked and analysed. All service cards have to have this printed out attached otherwise the battery warranty is void.

    I still use my Honda optimate which costed 35 quid. :Smile:

    There are all the same principle for diy and weekend spanner warriors our cheaper version is more viable. but that Medtronic’s battery charger is professional gear worth every penny as it will outlive all battery chargers out there.

    With battery remove memory and other features it make sense for a business to buy the best tools you can get. Look at the state of it form the pictures they do get used a lot! insulation tape few inches of muck on it and still working.

    I have a suspicion this is going to be really silly money. So I'll say 5k, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was 15k.

    I'll drop down to £1500

    But I agree with CJ, these new smart chargers are superb and us weekend warriors can get a good one for £50, although in a plastic casing they would last about 5 minutes in a proper garage...

    i had my battery tested twice on that same thing when i had problem with alarm on my car.i was told that is somewhere around 2000£.i nearly got it.anything for 2nd place?
