Another problem: steering feels sticky diring normal ride, when maneuvering on car park or driveway (slow speed) its quite hard and you can easy hear PS pump noise - Feels like its struggling to do the job.
Is there something about wrong grease in steering rack in early models. Mine is late 2008. Would extended Honda warranty cover that? Is it there any recall issued regarding that problem. I have driven new honda Jazz recently and can tell, power steering is haven better in it that in my Accord. Altough mine has 117k on the clock.

Hi Sev ,the 8th Generation accord has a three phase electric power steering so there is no hydraulic pump or fluid. so the noise can be something mechanical.

If your car is a late 2008 model it will not be affected by the wrong grease steering rack and as far as I am aware there is no recall on steering or TSB., I would suggest get this looked at the supplying dealer to troubleshoot this further.

Ok, thanks. I think I will pop in and check at local dealer. Would aftersale warranty cover any repairs?

I take this warranty was bundled as Honda approved used car from a Honda dealer? then the dealer can start the process if there is any sort of damage.

My sister has a late 2008 Honda Accord as well, and says that she has come across a similar problem. Whenever she drives slowly, as you described, into a driveway the steering wheel can stick at times. I don't know if this is a common problem or not, but you are not alone sev in your problem.

I have changed tyres recently (Goodyear Vector All seasons, and it feels even worst). Sometimes wheel stays in place (sticks) during long, wide turn. And it feels like LKAS is struggling on the motorway).

All 4 tyres are the same, almost new. Standard size: 225/50/17. I don't think thats the problem, but something is not right. I will try different pressure this week (2.5, currently 2.3) and see if it helps. But as I said, don't feel its tyre related.

Sev did you check the tyre rating as per the document? If the problem still persists it may be advisable to get the car on a hunter wheel alignment machine to check the four wheel alignment .

It could be as simple as that.

    Yes i did, its OK.

I have visually checked the old tyres and they looked all right. The tread was worn even so didn't look like it needs alignment.
The steering just feels heavy. Don't have time to get it inspected at dealer, cause getting ready for 1400miles trip next week.
It's gonna be a good test of LKAS and fuel consumption on German motorways.

Report back with your findings as I am interested to know what causing this after fresh tyres.

I have just bought a ES GT tourer 59 plate and am loving it but and now and again the car feels like it is either drifting into rutts in the road or steering itself! It is not a massive lurch and I don't think it is alignment because it feels too rapid for that. Does it sound like the same thing?

Sounds similar. The most annoying thing is the steering feels not good and smooth enough for such a nice and expensive car. Guess what: Honda explains the problem as car characteristic . Any ideas how to test power steering yourself? Anyone?

I don't like the idea of electric power steering, it has some strange quarks.

You will need to get a four wheel alignment done and i am pretty sure it will be tyres of alignment out. Try to get to a four wheel alignment specialists or look up the nearest to you via Welcome to Align My Car
