Hi, bought my Civic 1.7 CDTI 7th Generation 04 a few weeks ago. Been getting nearly 80mpg out of it on the motorway. However an inside light was left on which killed the battery, it would not recharge properly and created a tapping noise when the ignition turned to just electrics. Now we have just fitted a new battery, works great but still there is a fast tpping noise coming from the right hand side area near the battery.
    Anyone know what it is?

Is it coming from the fuse box area or the headlight area ?

sounds more like the headlight area but could not be 100%.

Can you hear it when idling?

not so much when the bonnet is down, but can with the hood up, completely separate noise from the usual diesel engine noise.

does it change its frequency when the engine is revved or not? i.e - taps faster when you rev it a bit

no, just a constant same speed. Does it without the engine on, just electrics.
