    Hi everyone
Could anyone tell me, please, what's the best engine oil for 2.4 i-VTEC engine would be? Any recommendations? ...but lets skip Mugen Hi-Performance Engine Oil "VT-α" 5W-40 100% synthetic. This one is just way too expensive... £115+vat for 4L can :Aghast:

To be honest I'm still afraid of the word ESTER... I do not have any experience or knowledge with this ester synthetic oil.
It's something way more advanced performance wise than normal synthetic oil?

I have been using Fuchs since I bought my car changed at every 6k miles and am happy with it.
Oil has been recommended to me by our own CJ.I drive my car hard every chance I get so make sense to use it.

That's sounds good! And the price of Fuchs oil is very reasonable comparing to that Mugen performance oil which comes out of space perhaps!
There is just one thing what I dislike about Honda - it's service book! Which has no details at all what service needs to be done in what mileage or year intervals. I had a Mitsubishi before, it was everything showed very clearly about recommended services after mileages etc.
Is it possible to find out some table with recommended services in details, somewhere, guys? Or should I pop up to a local Honda dealer?

Okay guys.. I still have questions in my head. Could you explain to me in simple words what advantages Ester Synthetic oil has over simply fully Synthetic oil?

And why Fuchs? Is it any better in some ways for v-tec engines than other top brands like Shell, Mobil 1 etc?

Zoran, but I guess something is wrong in that table.... engine oil replacement every 12.5k miles???

Think that is Honda recommended intervals.I personally change mine every 6k miles.

The Honda recommendation for Europe is 12.5k but for everywhere except Europe it's 6250.

Decide for yourself if that is based on engineering grounds or other factors...

Yeah.. UK... I know that everywhere in Europe for most cars standard interval is 10'000 km (6'250 miles), for some cars (like my previous LHD Mitsubishi Galant) is 15'000 km (9'375 miles).
But here comes Honda UK recommendations with 20'000 km (12.5k miles) niceee...
I guess, I'll cut that in a half, and do every 6250 miles, or maybe like Mitsubishi's 9k miles. But to keep on driving 12.5k with same oil is like killing the engine softly :Foolish:

    An oil of of one of the viscosities and ACEA classifications in the owners manual and a Castrol oil as that is what Honda recommends on their website, under owners, service schedule, between services check;
Between services we suggest you regularly
    • Check the engine oil level (Honda recommends Castrol lubricants)

Unless an oil expert can tell you differently and if you want them to repudiate any claim for engine failure that may be attributed to an oil problem.
Simple now and not complicated, ha ha can't get Honda to state this!
