I was wondering why it was actually so dark outside, worried that it was going to hail down with rain!

Unfortunately it's not much visible from middle of London!

I was sitting in a hospital while the doctor I was seeing was outside looking at the eclipse!

There was nothing to see here - too cloudy. It just got a bit darker like it was going to rain, although now it is lovely and sunny :beach:

I surprised myself and found the old BAADER screen I bought for the 1999 Total Eclipse which was clouded out in Cornwall .I attached two pieces to my pair of 7X50 binoculars with rubber bands very impressive viewing

It's just a sheet of Baader screen cut to size to fit over the objectives of my binoculars and held in place with rubber bands. It is magic stuff and safe.

    Great pics!

A beautiful blue sky here in the west Midlands this morning. Using welding goggles I watched the eclipse unfold... but what a non-event! While I could clearly see a chunk 'missing' from the sun which moved position, if you weren't actually looking then you would never have realised. I suppose it must have gone a little darker, but it wasn't noticeable to me!

Not a patch on seeing a total eclipse on Dartmoor in 1999...

To be honest...seeing the Sun in Scotland this early in the year is only slightly more frequent than the eclipse itself, and the day it does shine - the moon blocks 95% of it lol :beach:

If you think about it there is an eclipse every day when the Sun goes down

Here in York it was mint to view, the sun was belting one out. The clouds came over a produced a perfect filter to see the eclipse perfectly the whole duration. The sun looked like it was smiling at us really crescent sun. Didn't darken too much but was a great sight. Glad I work in an office now. Big window and a bit of time between paperwork.

I got a shot last July, early morning Scottish mist/cloud creating a filter of sorts, the sun was the perfect sphere. You could view with the naked eye (not that you should of course).

Here is the shot, no filters on front of the lens (EF-s 55-250mm IS 1st Generation) - slight tweak in Lightroom for levels and contrast etc then saw the sun spots. sunspot.

    Sunspots 11 July 2014 about 7.45am

I was out and about when it happened - in my neck of the woods, it was completely boring, went a bit overcast and that was it.

.. a bit too depressive music for my liking, but there is a nice video of the eclipse, made by "Hamferd" (faroese metal band) live on March 20th 2015
    in the Faroe Islands:
