    Water
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water

Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface. It is vital for all known forms of life. On Earth, 96.5% of the planet's water is found in seas and oceans, 1.7% in groundwater, 1.7% in glaciers and the ICE caps of Antarctica and Greenland, a small fraction in other large water bodies, and 0.001% in the air as vapor, clouds (formed of solid and liquid water particles suspended in air), and precipitation. Only 2.5% of the Earth's water is freshwater, and 98.8% of that water is in ICE and groundwater. Less than 0.3% of all freshwater is in rivers, lakes, and the atmosphere, and an even smaller amount of the Earth's freshwater (0.003%) is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products.

All US presidents except one have been direct descendants of the King John who sealed the Magna Carta in 1215.

(I'd go a bit further than this and say that the vast majority of rulers throughout history have belonged to the same bloodlines, "democracy" eh)

    Little Boy Atomic Bomb.

The total devastation of Hiroshima was caused by the fission of no more than 2lbs of Uranium.

The 16 kiloton yield of the Little Boy bomb was therefore produced by the fission no more than 2 pounds (0.91 kg) of uranium-235, out of the 141 pounds (64 kg) in the pit. The remaining 139 pounds (63 kg), 98.5% of the total, contributed nothing to the energy yield.

I hope this is a fact rather than an urban myth...sounds scary though!

When I did my advanced driving course a few weeks ago, the tutor told us that:

If two identical cars are travelling side by side on a motorway, one going 70mph and one going 100mph and they both brake as hard as possible at exactly the same time, at the point the car travelling 70mph comes to a halt, the car doing 100mph is still going...70mph! :Aghast:

@FirstHonda It would appear that your tutor is correct !

The car travelling at 70 mph, has a stopping distance of just under 150m.
At 150m before it stops, the car that started at 100mph IS still travelling at about 70mph !

    Scary stuff!

The graph below is for winter stopping distances.
It was taken from this site: Math Problems for Middle School Students
