This might be a little controversial as its the kind of thing often done by boy racers and the likes. But I am thinking of painting my calipers in an effort to make them look somewhat more presentanble than the rusty mess that they look like at the moment. Even if I wire brush them down etc they will still look all rusty again in no time.
This is my car, as it stood 2 days ago.

The colours I am considering are

    Silver (like new calipers)
    Black
    Blue
    Red

    What are other peoples thoughts?

just make sure to put as much effort into the prep as possible..
    wire brush,
    coarse/medium sanding pads
    medium/fine sanding pads
    clean with brake cleaner
    rub down with rubbing alcohol
    make sure completely dry
    then paint

Why not have them zinc coated?

I could, but would have to take them off and be without a motor for a short period. Me and my cars are joined at the hip I think.

I did my 7th Generation in black, so the Epsilons were more prominent, but I think silver would be good too. If you've got both colours, paint one side black and the other silver. You can then decide which you like the best.

Black or silver mate - I did both the cars in black as it looks good against a black car. I would probably go for black on your car, but either would look good.

Thing is wouldn't black just get lost with the wheel, I would rather than stand out a little more. I know its more of a young lad thing to do, but I feel red calipers just look that tad better.

True, I wanted my calipers to look clean and understated which is why I painted them black. I think red would look a bit too racy myself, but I am oldish and boring...

I think Silver then, won't hide away, but look just clean and neat. Or, if you go red, a nice dark red, not a bright red one.

Was thinking of a darker red, than a bright one, so that looks good, and not too overstated, but at the same time a little sporty, even for a none sporty hatchback.

I do agree that red and dark blue do go together if its the right shade of red - bright red is what turns me completely off, I think if you can find a nice shade which compliments the bodywork, then that will look good.

Mine use to be red and they stood out too much, so I painted them silver and now they just blend in and aren't noticeable at all LOL

@Nighthawk, A friend of mine had a Blue (similar to mine) Saab 9-3 turbo and that had some red calipers on it, but the looks of it they where done in Hammerite Red, but quite some time ago that brake dust had covered them and to be fair they looked fairly good under the Irmsher style softstar wheels it had on it.

I've just shown this post to the boss - she has said black as black goes with everything and any other colour will mean there are too many diferent colours on the car and it won't match. I told her we werent painting a room, but she just glared at me and said black.:Laughing:

See what I have to put up with?
