For cracking down on chavvy drivers with all manner of undisclosed mods on thier cars.

    Op Dragoon targets dangerous drivers

I really don't understand people not declaring mods, it really doesn't cost as much as you think it would.

I get it, all you have to do is change you badge on the back of the car for a smaller sized engine and you insure for that. I like it, why didn't I think of that ages ago, could have saved myself a fortune :Whoosh:

Team valley is a massive industrial estate and the kids think they can get away with driving round it like idiots.

Insurance is pot and luck, it costs a bomb for me to insure mod car, hell even non mod cars can cost thousands, so not suprised when some people don't declare mods, because insurers sometimes want silly extra money for even the most mundane mods like a CAI, which on a normal car makes no difference to performance or anything.

With all my mods declared, CIA, custom exhaust, ECU chipped, window tints ECT it only cost me an additional £80.

I just don't see the point in modifying cars. Buy a nippy car in the first place, it's miles cheaper.

If you know what you're doing, a little tinkering can be quite fun.
Having said that, I try and get all the bit and pieces I want all at the start.

I can understand the desire of modifications - its not just about speed, its about individuality, whether thats cosmetic or mechanical. The younger-than-us generation have their priorities in their cars, whilst those more mature groups have their priorities in their kids/home etc. You decorate your house unique to your personal tastes (bright purple walls are not my thing, but some people like them), in the same way, some people decorate their cars to their tastes. As we all know, some mods can be tasteful, others are just horrific.

I had an SRI, uprated turbo inlet pipe, winter tyres and lowered suspension on my mps and it didn't effect my insurance. Just remembered that I had wider summer tyres also.

Adding Rear Spoiler/Aerofoil, Alloy Wheels, Air Filter, Parking Sensors to my policy increased it by £520 with Admiral - next cheapest had increased by £160. Cheapest quote after mods was £850 for a car worth £500. I'd hate to imagine what the quote of the Corsa with all the mods declared would have been, the owner should just live within their means though at least their car would've been fast as opposed to your standard modded corsa with a puny engine sounding like a tin of bees.

Just wondering but if he hit someone would the insurance cover it? I'm guessing no.

The policy wouldn't be valid. Therefore, he's driving around without insurance, so anyone he hits is out in the cold.
