Will heading off up another Munro yesterday and was my turn to drive so I cleared out my boot and suddenly wondered why I was carrying so much stuff about for day to day driving which is a huge triple section boot bag that fills half the boot and weighs about 40kg:

    Electric tyre pump
    Multi meter
    OBDC2 reader
Small toolbox with very little useful tools
    Tons of different detailing stuff
    Screen wash
    WollyJumper
    Dog mat and seatbelt lead

I was thinking I only really need the pump and last three items.

I was wondering, what do you keep in your boot?

Space saver, with jack and wheel tools, a couple of waitrose "bags for life" ( got fed up with all those plastic carrier bags) and a fold up, lightweight wheelchair for the wife.

Surprised the amount of kit you guys carry its a Honda guys not a french car , apart for children and pets gear you should NOT be carrying anything else.

I have a map (the wife still prefers it), electric pump, towing mirrors, removable tow ball and a couple of dust sheets......everything else is covered by the up to now unnecessary Green Flag Breakdown policy. All of this hides away in the Tourer under boot storage bin - with loads of spare room.

Aye I think I'm going to have a wee reshuffle and only carry:

    Electric tyre pump
    Screen wash
    Wolly Jumper
    Dog mat and seatbelt lead

Forgot about hi-vis jacket and hardhat but that can double as warm clothing in case I get stuck in the cold.

Even the Saloon boot is so big that this will hardly make any difference

aaah yes the old lady capri let you off. As for battery swap to the Diesel battery a wise one. well the cost of a battery is a no brainer really.

I'll get a spanking for this, I'm terrible for carrying extra weight.

    • Large Boot Bag for most of this crap.
    • Oil with half a cut bottle and tissue stuffed in (ghetto oil funnel and wipe)
    • Few spanners, cable ties and spare fuses (habit from old car)
    • Change of clothes, blankets, sleeping bag, pillow, pack of biscuits.
    • Frontseat dog guard, various dog toys.
    • Jerry can with 5L of fuel.
    • 2 buckets, lambs wool mitt, about 10-15 bottles/pots of detailing gear (can come out).
    • Two jacks, spare wheel, large waterproof groundsheet, picnic blanket (if you've had to change a tyre in heavy rain, you know why).
I actually need to stick back in a flashlight, flip knife, jump cables, rope. If you haven't guessed, I hate being caught out.
