Hang on, there's something about South Korea, Japan and Germany which they all have in common... oh that's it, US Military presence hehe I'm sure Samsung won the majority of cases in Korea though?

Anyway, can we all get back to the original topic please? Lol

The problem is we don't have any true UK car manufacturers anymore apart from Morgan as everything else is foreign owned.

I think Morgan is still family owned, I maybe wrong.

The likes of Morgan, Noble etc aren't really your normal car manufacturers, there more akin to a man making a car in his shed.

The days of mass market mainsteam British car manufacturers is long gone and won't be coming back ever. Rover would of still been in existence had it not been for BMW taking them over and killing them off. They were doing really well with Honda and so was Honda too, but ze germans didn't like that so had to intervene.

At least the Japanese saved uk car manufacturing with the Swindon and Sunderland plants.

^^Yes, believe Peter Morgan is still in charge (know he was up until about 2007).

Went to Malvern for a factory tour a few years ago, just superb. No guide, no route, they just let us wander around (really!) and ask the workers any questions we wanted to. The only area we couldn't access was the paint shop (obviously). Proper craftsmanship and dedication, just wonderful.

A great experience, I'd recommend it if to all they still do it. My favourite memory of that day was the chap hammering an engine number into a BMW block with a selection of stamps and a hammer, AFTER it had been fitted to the car. I asked the chap doing it why they had waited for it to be fitted, expecting some clever, engineering reason. Actually it was because they had forgotten to do it earlier...:Rolf:

Always wanted a Morgan, still at the top of my list for a treat one day (in the unlikely event they ever make a Plus 4 automatic).

^^To be fair, I don't think it was quality or capability that let their tanks down, it was the sheer numbers and resources that the Soviets and Americans could deploy. The Tiger II and Panther could have made a real difference if they had been able to be produced in enough numbers, and not hampered by mass bombing of the factories and resource shortages.

Having petrol tanks in the Russian winter probably didn't help!

^^Yes indeed, bit of an oversight that. Probably a good job though!

No Winter uniforms for their troops either. Terrible to be at war in the first place, but on top of that to be so very cold with no protection. Nasty.

Mind come to think of it were it not for Hitler they probably would have been fine with petrol and no winter gear as Moscow could have been taken in time. Although they would have had to still face Russia's elite units from the east side, although defending and well dug in would be a big advantage.
