Accident damage July 10th 2017, left the car as a Cat-C but repairable. Minor damage to the door and wing... BMW twonk who hit my car... is a total write off... Proving that Jap cars are once again built better and stronger than over priced German tat, the kiddies think are cool to own.
Latest pics to show the repairs after the minor accident damage. Door and front wing replaced... Bumper alignment fixed once more, door fitment is pretty good, the wing sits a little proud at the crease where it meets the door... the gap here seems a little wider than the other side, but the door alignment is near perfect all the way around... So I can only assume the wing has a slightly raised bit either from being removed or in transit... We weren't about to remove it all again to try and resolve what is a 2-3mm difference.
Colour match is pretty much near perfect and once the car is properly cleaned and polished again, you'd be hard pushed to notice a difference.
However... the replacement door was from a facelift model, so required the wiring loom to be swapped over as PFL has no folding mirrors..Means I still have a scratched mirror casing until I can figure out how to take it of the other undamaged mirror. it also had chrome trim, the bottom piece can be swapped over as you can tell... but the top pice is glued in place and I'm going to get a can of plastidip and spray it matt black to match...I figure £15 for the can of spray is easier and cheaper than the £70-80 for a new pice of trim and the hassle of cutting the old out off and gluing the new one on.
Total cost for the repairs, inc wheel refurbs, tyres, new mot and so forth, plus all the little extras, like a new FSV and a speeding ticket... around the £800 mark and 3 points. ... points are completely unrelated to the accident... although I did get them whilst going to pick up the replacement door... so that cheap £50 door actually cost me around £160 inc fuel and the speeding fine.
