Well me and CJ spent the day at Holdcroft the other day and my car was booked in for a service. I managed to take a few pictures of my car being serviced and thought a write up would help a lot of members wanting to get their hands dirty.
1. Ensure the engine has been warmed up which helps with the draining of the oil.
2. Remove the oil filter assembly using the oil filter wrench (Part No. 04151-RBD-305 or equivalent). You should only use the a socket type filter wrench to prevent damage to the oil filter housing cap. The equivalent parts are available on eBay, Halfords or other tool stockists.
3. Separate the oil filter cap and oil filter element
4. Install the new O rings and oil filter element to the oil filter cap. (If you buy genuine parts you get the new O rings)
5. Apply new engine oil around the O-rings, then reinstall the oil filter assembly to the oil filter housing
6. Tighten the oil filter assembly using the oil filter wrench to specified torque 25N/m (2.5kgf/m, 18 lbf/ft)
7. Remove the access panel as shown Which exposes the sump drain plug.
8. Remove the drain bolt an shown above and ensure you have something that will take up to 6 litres. If the engine is warm the be careful as hot oil can burn. Top Tip is to be very quick moving the plug out of the way otherwise you get oil down your sleeve!
9. Reinstall the drain bolt with a new washer (supplied with genuine parts)
10. Refill with recommended oil. (0W30 ONLY!)
At Oil Change: 5.5 L (5.8 US qt, 4.8 Imp qt)
At Oil Change including Filter: 5.9 L (6.2 US qt, 5.2 Imp qt)
After Engine Overhaul 6.5 L (6.9 US qt, 5.7 Imp qt)
11. Clean up any spilled oil
12. Run the engine a minimum of 3 minutes and then check the levels. Top up if required.
13. Job done!
