Hi all, my son has a 1995 1.6 vti Irish import he bought it in 2002, it has DOHC engine, he has all the relevant paperwork - but the engine on the log is listed as D16, which it is not - any help on what the VIN numbers equate to ? When looking on the net, it says the 1st number is the maker, but Honda has 2 (JH) to denote Honda ! This knocks the sequence of numbers out !
Any help here would be really appreciated.
    Cheers
    Jim

Hello mate have you looked on the engine block to see if it is staped, if I can remember right being 1.6 DOHC will be a B16A engine any pics might also help..
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
Not had chance to check block stamp yet, my son asked me the question a couple of nights ago when I looked on log book its listed as D 16 ?
but is definitely DOHC which makes it B 16 - just a little confused at the moment ! I will have to dig out the original Irish to UK transfer/registration paperwork, I am wondering if it has been " miss registered " in 2002 when he first bought it !
I will do some digging and will post again in a few days.
    Cheers

My son typed in the full engine number off the log book couple of nights ago on a website -- he tells me it came up as year 2005 ?? Which really got me guessing ? Like I say, I will post again in a few days after I do a bit of digging.
    Cheers

Just typed VIN into Honda parts cataloge as you said - it comes up as b16A2 but reg. document states D16A2 ? Could it be typo ?
Will look into it further and post when I get more info.

    Hello mate,
looks like DVLA have made a typo error have a look at this B16A2 or D16A2? - Honda Civic Forum also looking on net B16A2 was made and further research with other parts for VTI shows B16A2 mate it can be changed on log book just proof will be needed I have log books with errors on and had to change them...
    Thanks

Hi Andy, thanks for that mate, your a star !!!! I was beginning to get a bit worried ! I will still do further digging - I am sure you are right and the reg. document will need correcting at DVLA His car is SORN at the moment anyway so no panic but still needs correcting.
P.s. my auto box is perfect now ( 2005 accord 2.4 auto exec. toured if you remember last year )
    Cheers
