Three buckets ?? I struggle to keep track of two buckets ! :Rolf:

So third bucket is just for wheels... hmm I always do them at the very very end anyway, so no need for a third bucket.

Aside from the windows (and the 3rd bucket) I pretty much wash the same way as this guy describes.

Personally, if you can use a hose, I think it's better still. All the dirt gets rinsed off as you go.

    My preferred method is:
    Snow foam.
    Power spray rinse.
Shampoo with micro fibre sponge/mit, (rinsing as you go along with hose.
    Power spray rinse.
    Dry with m/fibre towels.

Alloys and sills get the same treatment, but with their own sponges and towels.

Takes about an hour per car.

I use three buckets too - main body wash, extra wash (wheels) and cold water (rinse). Very important - I always use a grit guard in the buckets.

Three wash mitts too - upper body (Wookie's Fist), lower body (Yeti's Fist), wheels (Megs Synthetic).

Yes grit guards keeps dirt at bay, yes the key is to keep many mitts either label mitts or use different mitts as firsthonda has done for each section, great method @FirstHonda

4 buckets would be even better!
I live in a flat and pressure washer is no-no for me unfortunately. Therefore every wash I have to spend £4 on BP station to use their PW and even then Im using water only to rinse Bilt Hamber Autofoam that I have with me in 2L diy foam sprayer and their shampoo on wheels, wheel arches because Im sure its not ph natural and will leave stains on the paint. Than two regular buckets(will buy with grit guards later) and quick detailer in the end on korean edgeless towel. For wheels using regular cloths at the moment, but will invest in wheel woolies(won't tell my better half how much they cost).:hairout:

Yes, I do almost always now. Before that, I used a single bucket and hose. The sponge was always rinsed out before going back into the bucket, so that it wasn't contaminating my clean shampoo water.

Since joining HK, I've upgraded to snow foaming and followed the good advice given by @wanner69 and @FirstHonda

Generally I have been advised to reduce touching soft honda paint as much as possible, so will apply Gtechniq coating in few months time. This should help with marring the paint and cleaning in general - dirt won't stick that much to the car.

Some detailing companies don't use a pressure washer they just use a hose

Before the hose, I used two buckets and a watering can. That way I could keep the sponge clean and rinse the soapy dirt off the car as I went along.

Here also a three bucket user.

And like FirstHonda also three different washmitts: upper parts - Microfiber Madness Incredimitt, lower parts - Microfiber Madness Incredipad, wheels - unknown brand microfiber wasmitt and two wheel woolies. All parts also have their own drying towel.

There are also some extra washmitts for when one drops on the driveway. And after pre-wash and HP rinse, wheels first and then the rest of the car. Final rinse with open hose method.
