My battery on my FR-V died. Didn't need to reset the Alarm. Only thing I have to do is disarm the car with the fob. If i unlock the car with the key, the alarm goes off.

If the cars main battery has been down for sometime (ie the car hasn't been used for sometime), the battery inside the alarm also depletes. This can then start to cause issues with the alarm going off regularly.

Think it had been dead for a long time. Probably been stood at the garage for at least 6 months.

Could the battery being faulty somehow affect the remote locking?
I just thought the battery was for the siren?

Yeah, at the moment I have an issue with the alarm not responding and the remote fob not working. Was just wondering if they might somehow be related.

hi mate you said car battery had gone flat right I just wonder if your fob will need resyncing as it could all be linked i'd see what your owners handbook says it just one way i'd look at why fob not working..
    thanks

I had a locksmith round to do another key, and that's the same. He cut the key, coded the transponder and then tried to sync both keys without any luck

Switch ignition on press lock on remote, switch off.
Do that 3 then fourth time it should lock unlock. Then press lock on remote you want programming

That sounds like the procedure for re-pairing keys that were already paired to the car.

I seem to recall you can't do that with key not known to the car already.

Was the transponder moved from the old key to the new key ?

No it wasn't. Is there another one for pairing unknown keys?

He did plug into the diagnostic port and code the transponder for the new key though.

Hi i had similar problems when i changed my battery the alarm was going off i tried the bonnet switch technique which was no good i drove around for about 20 mins with alarm blaring and the time between alarm going off got longer until the battery in the sounder unit recharged. Alarm was now off while standing unlocked but the alarm would still go off a few moments after i activated with key fob. What solved mine was turning off the interior lights? don't know why but as soon as i knocked the interior lights to off position it solved it! give it a go mate might work worth a try

Brilliant! No idea why but my fob (only have one) decided it would chew through a battery every day. I phoned the Honda dealer who wanted £330 for a new one so decided to give this a try. Now I don't even need a battery in my fob as I can use the key to open the door, old school style, without the alarm / hazards going off. Cheers buddy.

Ah cool. Glad that helped you out. My alarm is still disabled. I think they have that wire there to easily disable the alarm during transport etc .
