As a biker and a car driver round this year your windscreen and visor is splatted with these pesky little road kill!

However I have noticed if you do sub 60MPH there is lesser dead bugs and the faster you go there is more.. anyone else noticed this and why?

Sticking to sub 60 when I could be going quicker would be near impossible for me to do.

A weekly car wash takes cars of the bugs and flies anyway.

I know mate, but I need a few more to try it on some rural country road and see why this happens, I am not making it up.

Is it to do with air flow ?
< 60 they may get carried past with the air.
    > 60 you're travelling faster than the flow moves them past ?

Maybe @PeteMM can shed some light on this ?

Is this question similar to "do you get more wet if you run in the rain" ?

This reminds me of the old gag...

    Q. What was the last thing to go through the fly's mind when he hit the car windscreen?

    A. His backside...

On a more serious note, if you spray AutoGlym "active insect remover" prior to washing, the bugs just wipe off.

Yes thats a brilliant insect remover.

As for bugs/speed - makes no difference given the wide berth on the front of the CR-V. Almost came perilously close to decapitating a stupid dog the other day because the owner was too busy molesting his eye-fone to care. Stupid mutt came into the road forcing me to swerve - thankfully no oncoming traffic. Would have taken a lot more than insect cleaner to wipe that dead filthy carcass off!

For me travelling at 《60 on main roads (A5 and A483) when there are often alot of lorries causing lower speeds seems to lessen the amount of bug impacts, that said I have noticed on a few occasions bugs being drawn over and around the car, rather than into it, but at higher speeds they impact more.

    Does this help ?

    wind-tunnel. , user322_pic185_1215142177. , windtunnel-nsx. , bike.

I would expect the splat to be larger at the point of impact and decease vertically upwards.
The faster you are going then the air flow would not be as smooth, hence more impacts ?

I'm not an aerodynamics expert, so feel free to correct me / add to this.
