If Civic owners notice the engine fails to start or the gear position display may be flashing. It is certain the transmission may have failed to select neutral position.

To address this issue Honda have updated the software to the Transmission control unit (TCU) , the software has been updated for neutral position reference check (NRef) which fails return correct result. As a consequence transmission control inhibits shift actuator to prevent any possible damage.

Please contact you nearest Honda Dealer to seek further clarification and if your VIN is affected they will update the software.
