    The Overview
The VSA modulator-control unit detects a state that the pressure of one tyre is relatively lower than pressure of the other three tyres. Deflation detection is performed by monitoring the rotation speed of four wheels. When the system detects the deflation of a tyre (from 10 % to 30 % deflation from recommended pressure), the low tyre pressure indicator is turned on to inform the driver that a tyre is deflated Deflation of two tyres on diagonal position or three tyres are also detectable. To detect tyre deflation with desired accuracy, it is necessary to learn the difference of rolling of the four tyres at recommended pressure (learning is started by initialisation).
    DWS Learning
To detect a tyre deflation, it is necessary to correct the initial difference of rolling radius of the four tyres at recommended pressure. This leaning is finished by drive the vehicle for about 10 minutes in ideal conditions. In addition, the true performance is not provided while learn it.

    Deflation Warning System DWS Initialisation

You can do this prior to engaging your dealer

Do the deflation warning system initialisation after doing the following items.
    • Rotating the tyres.
    • Replacing the tyre(s).
    • Adjust the tyre pressure.
    • Replace the VSA modulator-control unit.

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
NOTE: Vehicle must be stopped with the transmission in P or N.
Press and hold the INFO button (A) for more than 3 seconds to enter the customizing mode.
Press the INFO button repeatedly until symbol (B) is displayed, then press the SEL/RESET button (C).
Select ‘‘OK’’ by pressing the INFO button, then press the SEL/RESET button to set.
    NOTE:
    • If ‘‘COMPLETE’’ is displayed in the multi-information display, deflation warning system learning procedure is completed.
    • If ‘‘FAILED’’ is displayed in the multi-information display, go to the symptom troubleshooting.

you must also have the handbrake applied. with new model CR-V you must press the info button untill the book symbol is on the i-MID, then press sel/reset. only then will the option be avaliable for tyre deflation warning etc.

Can vouch from recent experience that TPMS works well. Light came on so continued a few miles until safe to leave Dual Cway with no hard shoulder & found garage forecourt where could safely check all the tyre pressures. Three at 37psi except os rear at 33psi. Pumped up os rear to 38psi but did not know at the time know how to cancel TPMS warning light so continued with care for 45 minutes then rechecked tyre pressures as all OK continued home for remaining 75 minutes of journey.

Took car to Norton Way Honda, Letchworth, last Monday as they said just bring the car in no need to book, which is excellent, better still they only charged £15 to repair the puncture caused by an old 1.5 in long by 0.25 in dia. nail.

I spoke with service manager who said that individual tyre pressure monitoring systems are coming, he also admitted that some owners keep returning with false TPMS warning light problems but did not know why. Could VSA rotors need cleaning?

I am surprised that Honda don't have individual pressure monitors. My old Renault (2001) had it and it worked very well.

For such an important safety point they should have them across the range.

I totally disagree for hundreds of years people have used old fashioned tyre pressure analogue gauges, and it worked. This technology is expensive and unnecessary you have to do your pre drive checks and you have to do it manually,

Just noticed this thread. Is there the same (indirect) system for the 8th Generation Accords? Or is it only for Civic/CR-V?

Good luck with that when you get :tut: in a tyre at 70mph on the motorway. All the pre checks in the world will not keep you safe during the journey with our roads. :Frown:

You will feel it you don't need a dash to tell you that you will fell it instantly and in a panic they last thing you want to do is check what the dash is doing you want to driving the car into a stop!! .. that is where your driver skills kick in. When I used to race motocross bikes, I always had two fingers on the clutch ready to pull it in if the engine seized , don't need to the dash or prompts you use your instincts.
