Hello all, I'm hoping someone can shed some light upon my annoying idle issue

The car starts up and is usually at roughly 1800 RPM then this reduces as car warms up, I'm guessing this is normal..
When I've been driving for a bit if I come to a stop the idle surges from around 1000 RPM to 1200 RPM up and down..
Sometimes it doesn't happen but most the time it does..
If I turn engine off while car is surging and turn back on it then idles fine until I get driving again..

Here's the things I've done to attempt to solve the issue..
    Dizzy cap and rotor
    New spark plugs
New oil filter and fuel filter
Checked for vacuum leaks to no avail
    Replaced HT leads
Changed oil and coolant and bled coolant

I know people say clean IACV but I doubt it's that tbh..

    Cheers

Sounds like a hot running issue. As in once up to running temp. May be worth setting up the IACV properly to rule this out. But there is checking the valve timing with a timing light. Valve clearances. You have ruled out a lot of things. Only so much that can be done over a forum. But those checks above can create hunting when hot

Cheers for the info lads, I'll give the timing a check over and I'll get the IACV off for a clean and report back

Just wondering too about another issue I have..
I've got a fault in the electrics somewhere which I thought was a wire getting damp and causing my ignition to come on without the key in..
I narrowed it down and decided it was the toad ai606 and remote start at fault, remote start hasn't worked since I got the car..
Anyway I have recently been having a very slight bog up in the revs around 3.5k, kind of feels like brakes are sticking but it's not that and also the past few days I've started the car the odd time the car stalls straight after start up, but then when tried again it starts up fine..
I've narrowed this down to the ignition switch which could also be causing the issues with my alarm and possibly causing the shitty idle and this slight bog? Not sure on that though

Any ideas? I'm thinking of doing switch or replacing ECU

Found a cracked hose that goes to the heater valve, could this be the cause of the rough idle?

Also found a wire that's cut under dash, routed it back and found it was the ELD, not sure what problems this can cause if it's disconnected

Hose goes from block to the heater valve, the one with the cable on it for opening and shutting heaters
I have reconnected the ELD wire and idle issue is still there, have no idea why it was cut
Also thought it could maybe be a choked up air filter needing replacement but I took the filter off when car was idling bad and it didn't change idle
Got a new O2 sensor to do when I get a socket
But other than that there's only cleaning throttle body and IACV
I could maybe also try running some injector cleaner through

Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure.

Make sure all electrical items are turned off.

Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until
    the radiator fan comes on.

Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the
throttle fully closed and with all electrical items
    off.

Quick update; Idle issue solved, I reconnected ELD wire and drove car maybe 20 miles overall and the idle issue was still present, drove it again last night and the idle now sits perfect.
Going back to your previous post about the learn procedure I think that's why at first the bad idle was still there, I'm guessing the ECU has finally realised that it's now connected back up.
    Thanks for all the help

The car runs completely different now, exhaust burbles a lot more when I take foot off gas and slow down, not sure if its a bad thing mind

Not sure to be honest, it's more like unburnt fuel popping, just a sort of burble when I let off gas.

My idle problem has come back also, was fine up until I gave the car some beans following a scooby tonight, I'm guessing it wasn't anything to do with the ELD.
Only other thing I messed with were the air filter and the hose that I mentioned before been cracked.
Got a new hose on the way so I'll see if that solves it
