Really not into pick-ups even though they would make sense at work. However, thew new Honda Ridgeline looks lovely:

I think it would do well here with the right engine.

People called 'Billy-Bob' and 'Bubba' will love it. And so will their sisters/girlfriends.

Probably but that Honda looks far too classy for Cletus and Betty Jo, even if they could fit their 10 children/cousins in the back.

Should be a good market for it in East Anglia then...

I'm starting to see a lot of this specced up VW Amarok's around, so it won't be long before pickups are the next new fads, soon there will be pick up versions of your golfs, mondeos etc.

Lets get one thing clear. I love pickup trucks, specially old school Hilux.
But I think pickups are bit too crude for British public.. I see a few Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi and Ford Rangers but mostly owned by people who actually need them... unlike in USA where its an essential lifestyle choice. Look at new pathfinder in UK, it was Navara based proper body on frame SUV and has now been discontinued and XTrial has gone from a boxy SUV to something that looks like a larger Qashqai.

Pick-ups are good fun but atrocious daily drivers as they handle like a blancmange and guzzle diesel like an addict does crack.

Had an 3rd Generation 'lux and a double cab Warrior but despite using veg oil I needed a mortgage for fuel and would never go overseas in one like my Accord

Pickups use to be a very tax efficient way of having a company car as they were classed as vans not cars, tax on them was next to nothing.
Don't know if this is still the case.

^ Not on London roads  you'll probably end up driving over all the Corsa's.

Closed quite a few loopholes, the payload has be min 1T being the main one. I've driven a few and always thought them to be terrible to drive! The Honda has a proper rear suspension which will help a lot but would probably mean it won't carry 1T.

That's the case in Belgium. They are all over the place. Even I have already thought about buying one (Isuzu D-Max) if my Accord ever comes to an end. Just for the taxes. It's really cheap driving.
