As the site is newly launched, I find myself continually jumping and making small adjustments. Most of these changes are small optimisations and refinements, generally not worthy of publicising as an announcement or noting in its own thread. It is however nice to keep members informed of changes regardless, and may prove useful for bug tracking in the future, should the need ever arise. This thread will track these small changes as they're made. I'll apologise in advance for any tech jargon, I'll try add brief notes explaining what each changes means for the site. Changes: Various images optimised, compressed and converted into sprites containing multiple images in one file. Less requests to the server. Total page weight reduced by a further 400kb, bringing the index load to approximately 500-600kb for a first load, and a 300kb load from caching after the first visit. By comparison, the AOC loaded at approximately 1800kb. This cuts down on bandwidth use and should aid mobile devices greatly. Unnecessary scripts, such as Facebook/Twitter buttons, adverts and analytics deferred to load after the rest of the page. Less waiting on external servers, and the actual page content now loaded faster. Further changes to the icon set.
