    Hi guys,

I need to get a new starter motor for my Accord soon. The Lings Honda site says that a new OE one will cost £318.

Can anyone recommend any aftermarket alternatives that are cheaper and work just as well?

    Thanks!

    Sam

Waste of money in my opinion. Rather have a new/remanufactured one than one that's been pulled off a scrapped car.

    Starter Motor

I have used these guys before (not for starter motors but for other parts). Lets hope that link works. Either way, put in your car details. Got a REMY one for just under 200 and a Blueprint one for around 240. No idea who manufacturers the starter motors for Hondas so cannot vote on their quality.

A quick google brought up quite a few remanufacturing companies with a variety of prices. Might be worth just calling around and seeing what they will charge you.

Have you tried calling Holdcroft Honda? They are suprisingly reasonable for genuine parts! And great service...

    Thanks guys.

Before I start spending three-figure sums on a new starter motor, I just wanted to check:

Is there a relay for the starter motor, and, if so, where/which one is it? I had an A/C relay go duff on me recently, so I'm just wondering if there's a starter motor relay that needs replacing too. £25 is a cheaper fix than £150 to £318 lol

    Cheers

Has anyone had the need to replace the starter on the Elysion?
From everything I've found, it's the same 'motor as a MkVll Accord, 2.4 VTEC.
Mine's got solenoid problems (hitting it with a lump of wood helps!) and the garage are saying their supplier "can't find it".
So I've sent them the part numbers from the jp-carparts.com 'site.
Also, is it realistically possible to change the starter without removing the inlet manifold?

    Many thanks.

No, I can't see how. The intake manifold is made up of two halves, you can take the front half off very easily, the trickiest part is getting the very bottom bolt off that holds the bracket against the engine block.

It's not all too bad a job though, doable in about 45 minutes by taking the front half of the manifold off.
