I've got some stinky steam coming from under the bonnet and when idling the radiator fans are kicking every few seconds or so then stopping.

    Is this normal?

I've attached a YouTube link to the video of the steam.

Could be smoke from hot oil.

    What does it smell of?

Hard to say, just steamy? The coolant levels are all fine though.

The smell also comes into the cab in the vents btw.

I wouldn't run the engine too much, until you've determined what is going on

I took it to a garage but they couldn't recreated the problem. It's an intermittent problem and it's not over heating but then the fans are running a lot when idling. I'll try another garage.
