    Hello,

My tailgate makes a terrible noise when opening and closing in the warm weather. To the point where I only use it manually. I thought the gas struts might be weak so brought some new ones from SGS Engineering, but when I have gone to fit them, the old ones appear to be ok. They will open the tailgate from just under half way and hold it fine. I have videoed the noise when closing. Could this be something else, such as the clutch or motor?

Sorry it won’t let me post the video.

Basically it makes a cracking groaning noise like something is under tension or struggling

    Thanks

Hello, does anyone have any advice on this please. Could it be that I just need to lubricate the hinges or motor gear?

Or would a slight drop in the performance of the struts cause this, or could one have failed?

I need to return the struts to SGS if the there is no need to change them to save some money.

    Thanks
