My Accord 6th Generation is now 16 years old. In the boot the original Bridgestone spare tyre has never been used. I make sure the pressure is up occasionally but suspect that it might not now be fit for use. I also suspect that there are lots of other old spare tyres sitting in our cars that might be past their sell by date.

    Any thoughts?

Just fit a cheap brand tyre if you're worried. Tyres 10+ years old should get replaced even if they are unused. Old rubber is never a good idea IMO.

That reminds me, I ought to get the tyre on my space saver replaced for the same reason!

I don't think I have ever checked the pressures on my spare, time to add that to the list...

I have checked it once in the last year, and its not the original tyre, but a Sava, and its 12 years old an in need of being replaced really, so i think a cheap tyre for that purpose is going on the list, don't care what it is, it will no doubt be only used in an emergancy.
