I remember loving this advert as a kid! Only just realised it was my car!!
Genuinely proud moment
Sad I know, but I've got an original CD/DVD of this. But then again,
The good old days of good old Honda.
The whole range sold like hot cakes in those days but especially the 7th Generation Accord.
Now we have the 3 car Honda showroom, no advertising as such, therefore no brand presence and they wonder why they are dropping off the cliff into obscurity......
Been a long time since I last saw that ad, it's as great as ever.
I must resist to post Honda clips for cars made here that don't work.. but its time to move on I suppose otherwise woodo dolls will be primed and ready
Nice bit of info behind it as well!
Arguably the best product advert made for arguably the best Accord generation, it won a few awards too. Remember always trying to catch it on TV, especially the full version, as they cut down to shortened one after initial release.
The "Impossible Dream" ad is still my favorite, that gives me goosebumps.
I hope they make an innovative and 'think out of the box' advert for the new Civic as that looks like a return of a proper Honda product.
The song alone is an absolute classic song and is fantastic in its own right. Never seen that advert before - really good.
That convertible Honda at the start (don't know what it is), wow - thats gorgeous
It tells the story of Soichiro Honda and all his dreams whcih were fulfilled apart from his biggest dream which was flying, which they eventually achieved with the HondaJet, they added the HondaJet in a revised version after it was completed.
Here is someones interpretation of it, most of whom was coincidental with the adverts content.
@Pottermus - what a gorgeous looking thing
The S600 was their first car they made, and it redlined over 9krpm, thats where it all started with the cars, a high revving sports car.
Here is the coupe version, S800.
1960s 9k redline as their first attempt - have to give them full credit for that. Thats impressive. Well done Honda
It's main rival was the iconic Toyota 2000GT

Hence why the S800 came along quite quick

Did you know that the 2000GT design was originally offered to Nissan by Yamaha but they turned it down - Toyota didnt. I do like the 2000GT
No, I didn't know that. Toyota are a pretty switched on company to be fair.
Yeah nissan didnt think it would sell well enough and werent prepared to take the risk. And to an extent, they were right, it didnt sell well and was only in production for a few years I think it was.
Did you know 2000GT is the first million dollar collector car to hail from Japan ?
1967 Toyota 2000GT most expensive Asian car ever sold at $1.2M - Autoblog
One featured heavily in Connery's You Only Live Twice.
It does have a bit of the E Type look about it for sure
I wondering if we could get one of those choppers to assist in clearing the road of those german marque cars?
