Engine & Gearbox Timing belt or chain

    Ok silly question.

    Is the 2 litre VTEC engine got a timing belt or is it a chain?

    Timing chain.
    IIRC correctly only the the D16V1 7th Generation Civic engines are belt. .rest are all chains including the Jazz

    Yeah chain is encased inside the side cover.

    if it was exposed the engine will seize in 5 minutes as it will lose all the oil, which lubricates the chain.

    Glad we helped mate , just change the oil regularly the chain will never stretch.
