ICE & HFT Worrying message on sat-nav screen

    Hi all,
    just over the past week or two, about 25% of the time on start up (otherwise as normal), I get a screen message saying unable to read the DVD, contact dealer...anyone any ideas/suggestions....without contacting the dealer!?

    Many possible reasons.
    Have you tried...
    Cleaning the DVD disc?
    Cleaning the reader?
    If you search the site, there are several threads about DVD reader/disc errors.

    Is the Disc genuine copied, has the sat nave been repaired recently, is the door on the sat nav shut!

    @gongoozler how are you getting on with this ? Is the error still showing ?

    As @Ichiban said, is the disc you're using genuine ?

    Have you tried @Nels suggestion of cleaning the disc and reader ?

    Well, I have tried a cleaner in the disc hole to no avail, and cleaned the dvd which is genuine. As it's intermittent, I am reluctant to let the dealer loose on it unless it's a last resort.
